Cooking, Part II

Inspired by the British Bake-Off show, I am trying something new: 
puff-pastry apple slice.
I bought the puff pastry, so it's an easy recipe, but . . . 
will it have the dreaded soggy bottom?
To avoid that, I lightly cooked the apples, to drain some juice, before baking. Will that help?


I don't know, but there's English cheddar to grate on top, if people want, so how bad could these be, even if they're too wet?

The apple slices were not bad at all...
but sure enough, the pastry under the apples was heavy. I would try next time to bake the puff alone for a while and then add almost-done apples.

How did your pastries turn out, Fresca? Looks like they'd be good.

I'm making rice pudding today while babysit...no, cat-sitting Donovan's new kitten while daughter and he are at her father's for Thanksgiving. I'm taking pictures of the process for later.

The apple pastries were only slightly damp on the inside--but the outside of the bottom was nicely crunchy and crisp. They were very tasty!

English cheddar on the bottom might work to prevent sog...
